The anti-aging steps to youthful eyes.

When our eyes are compromised by dark circles, puffiness, frown lines and sagging skin, they’re definitely not living up to their ‘window of the soul’ role. All kidding aside, maintaining youthful eyes can go a long way to enhance our self-image as we age. In this article we share at-home skincare, in-office non-invasive treatments and surgical solutions to maintain younger-looking eyes that reflect your über-beautiful soul.

What you need to do at-home.

Eye cream.

Do you really need eye cream? The answer is YES. The skin of the eyes is delicate and thin, which means it is much more susceptible to damage from the sun and pollution. When the eye skin is not properly nourished and protected, fine lines and wrinkles will develop more rapidly and appear more prominent.

Two of our favourite medical-grade skincare solutions are:

  • Alyria Anti-Dark Circle Eye Cream – clinically proven to reduce the appearance of dark circles. Regular use under the eyes will provide brighter and younger-looking skin.
  • SkinMedica TNS Eye Repair® – improves smoothness and hydration around the eyes.

Latisse.

Eyelashes are not exempt from aging. Fortunately, a breakthrough lash-enhancement treatment like LATISSE® can rejuvenate them. It is thought that the treatment prolongs the growth phase of the lash, thereby resulting in longer, fuller and darker lashes. Once started, this at-home nightly treatment provides visible improvements within 12 weeks.

Neuromodulator & Filler treatment.

For expression lines and hollowness that appear around and under the eyes, a combination of a neuromodulator treatment (such as BOTOX COSMETIC®) and filler treatment (such as JUVÉDERM®) can smooth wrinkles and restore volume for vibrant, rested and rejuvenated eyes. Treatments are quick and require little to no downtime. Regular sessions maintain results and prevent further signs of aging.

Blepharoplasty

We only need to look to our parents and grandparents to see how we will age. Some people are predisposed to eyelids that droop, a condition known as blepharochalasis. In the later stages, this condition may result in eyelids that hang over the lashes and cause concerns with vision. For others, pockets of fat protrude underneath the eyes causing under-eye bags. Both of these aging concerns are easily addressed by a blepharoplasty procedure. A consultation will determine if you require an upper (addresses drooping eyelids) or lower (addresses eye bags) blepharoplasty. Both an upper and lower blepharoplasty can be combined when needed.

By employing these simple preventative in-office and at-home steps, youthful eyes can be maintained for years to come. In the case where premature aging or genetics require surgical intervention to restore youth, a blepharoplasty can take years off the appearance of the eyes where non-surgical methods fall short. Whether you’re just beginning an age prevention program or looking to refresh aging eyes, The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic will provide you with expert care and recommendations for beautiful results. We welcome you to book a consultation with us today.
