Dr. Shenker on clinic updates and curbside skincare pick-up.

That means that all of us at the Cosmetic Surgery Clinic are actively making plans to serve you as best we can when the viral pandemic eases off, and thanks to the new curbside measures, we can start with skincare!

While we are not yet ready to reopen for face-to-face consultations, surgical procedures or non-surgical procedures, we are making progress on certain fronts.

The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic is now open for retail sales of all of our skincare products. This means that as the sun begins to shine and the weather warms up, you won’t have to worry about running out of sunblock, facial cleansers, eye creams, moisturizers or any of your other favourite skincare products from Skinbetter, ZO Skin Health,  Skin Medica, Tizo, and Glo Skin Beauty.

One of the most important aspects of using medical-grade skincare products is consistency of use. The gains made by using a high-quality medical-grade retinol, vitamin C, sunblock or moisturizer are slow and incremental. This means that the changes happen with regular, consistent long term use of the product. That type of use poses a particular challenge for us right now as people are out of their regular routines, they don’t have access to the Beauty Nurse®️ team at the Cosmetic Surgery Clinic and, worst of all, they run out of the product and stop using it altogether.

It is a real shame to watch the hard-won skin quality improvements made by judicious skincare use fade away, as we all struggle to stay in our normal habits during these difficult times.

Over the course of these last two and a half months, who among us has not stayed in their pajamas all day eating cereal out of the box, and binge-watching just about everything they can find on Netflix? With that kind of challenge, how much harder is it to remember proper skincare maintenance? It’s important to fight the good fight and stay on top of your skincare regimen, so as not to lose all the hard-fought gains you’ve made while working with us these last many years.

For our patients who get other types of non-surgical interventions like Forever Young BBL treatments, Halo laser treatments, microlaser peels or profractional laser treatments, and even laser hair removal, the consequences of stopping your normal skincare routine can be particularly problematic.

Remember that it is the consistent application of your skincare regimen that makes those other treatments so much more effective for you.

It’s not just the non-surgical treatments that depend on consistent judicious application of your skincare regimen. Surgical procedures benefit from healthy skin as well. It is much better for me to do an upper lid blepharoplasty, a lower lid blepharoplasty, eyebrow lift or a facelift on skin that is well hydrated, healthy, and well-maintained. In fact, if I’m going to do liposuction of your neck or thermitight treatment of your jowls, those treatments depend on a healthy springy recoil of your skin after the treatment. That can only happen if you are taking good care of that skin of yours.

For now, the Cosmetic Surgery Clinic will be open from 9 a.m. to noon, Monday to Thursday for retail skincare sales.

We are asking that as much as possible you contact the clinic in advance either by phone or by email to place your order. Payment by credit card over the phone in advance is the best option. We will then arrange a no-touch, physical distancing compliant product pick up. We’ve tested the system out with a few patients so far, and it’s been extremely effective.

At this time, for the safety of everyone, we are still discouraging unannounced drop-in visits.  If you happen to find yourself at our door, and you need to pop in to buy a product, we will certainly do our best to help.

Please rest assured that all of us at the Cosmetic Surgery Clinic are paying extremely close attention to the pandemic situation in Ontario. We will continue to update everyone as often as we can about the products and services we can offer. We’re going to move slowly and carefully to protect you, and the staff.

We are all anxiously awaiting the day when we can fling the doors open, welcome you all with open arms, and get back to doing what it is that we absolutely love to do, which is taking care of our beautiful patients.

Stay healthy, stay safe and most importantly, stay positive!

From all of us at the Cosmetic Surgery Clinic.
