Today at the Cosmetic Surgery Clinic was the type of day I have been dreaming of for a long time. The whole team had breakfast together in the Clinic kitchen, bright and early. We planned the day and caught up on the latest news. Nurses Linda and Ange and I started out in the operating room with a breast augmentation first thing in the morning, and handed the patient over to Karen’s caring hands in the recovery room. Patient Safety Across Medicine

Many of you know that patient safety issues are very important to me. These issues make up a large portion of my work as Chief of Surgery and Vice President of Medical Affairs at Cambridge Memorial Hospital, and of course, patient safety is central to everything we do at my home away from the hospital, The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic in Waterloo. Ever since I started in practice 9 1/2 years ago, I have always phoned my patients at home the evening after surgery. Usually we talk about the usual stuff: pain medication, activity level, what to eat, and the expected recovery process. Today, however, I heard something different.
