Q&A with Beauty Nurse Lauren. - The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic

Q&A with Beauty Nurse Lauren.

The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic, Lauren JacobsBy now you know The Beauty Nurse® team at The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic. This dream team of experts is here to provide you with the complete aesthetic patient experience. Each of them excels in their respective area of expertise, is highly-sought after and consistently trained in the latest and greatest techniques and treatments.

Every member of The Beauty Nurse® team brings something special to the table, and we thought it was about time you get to know them a little bit better!

Today, we’ve asked Lauren Jacobs, our resident CoolSculpting® Specialist, to take some time out of her busy schedule to answer some questions for us.

1. First, tell us a bit about your role on The Beauty Nurse® team at TCSC?

I wear many hats here at the clinic! I take care of all of our postoperative patients in addition to being the Coolsculpting® Specialist. In this role, I help patients achieve their non-surgical body contouring goals.

2. What inspired you to become a CoolSculpting® Specialist?

I have really enjoyed working with the CoolSculpting technology, and I love being able to offer my patients a non-surgical alternative for their aesthetic needs.

3. What led you to the team at The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic?

I have been an RN for 14 years now. I began my journey in oral surgery and pediatrics, and while I loved both of those areas, I still wanted more. I loved surgery and so I decided to accept a full-time nursing position on a very busy surgical floor at Cambridge Memorial Hospital (CMH). As my children got older and I had a little spare time in between volunteering in my youngest son’s class, I came to The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic as a casual post-anesthesia care unit (PACU) nurse and fell in love right away! I gave up my position at CMH, joined the TCSC team full-time, and I’ve never looked back!

4. What is your best advice for patients considering CoolSculpting®?

Come on in, I would love to meet with you! Our CoolSculpting consultations are complimentary, and if CoolSculpting is something you are considering, you should have all of the most important and up-to-date information in order to make this big decision. Know that when you choose to come here to TCSC I will be going on this journey with you, and I’ll be with you every step of the way.

5. Tell us more about your CoolSculpting® Masters.

I was invited to attend this advanced course in Reston, Virginia, where I had attended core CoolSculpting training in the past. The Masters course is for those who have been CoolSculpting for quite some time, and know how the technology works. This course brought me new insights, encouraged me to think outside the box, and taught me how to treat those difficult areas that normally would not be treated. I’m really excited to bring this new information to all of my patients!

6. Have you ever had a CoolSculpting® treatment? What was it like?

I have had several treatments myself! It’s one of those things that’s hard to describe, but I’ll try! During the treatment, the first 5 to 10 minutes feel so cold that it burns (like if you were to squeeze a snowball with bare hands), but this sensation does go away quite quickly. There is also a 2 minute massage at the end of each treatment, which can be a bit uncomfortable for some people, but otherwise the treatment is quite comfortable! In the days following treatment, I had some swelling accompanied by a bruised feeling, and an itch that I couldn’t scratch! In the end, it was totally worth it! I started seeing results around 45 days, and was looking and feeling great by 3 months post-treatment.

7. What is the most rewarding part of your job?

Beginning the journey with each patient and seeing them through their aesthetic goals. I love seeing those great results and smiling patients!

8. What do you like to do in your spare time? Any hobbies?

I am an avid gym goer, and I love to hike. I’ve also recently taken up bouldering with my 3 boys.

9. Share one fun fact about yourself!

I wasn’t always a nurse! I started my career as an Early Childhood Educator.
