What happens during a CoolSculpting® treatment?

We create a customized treatment plan after listening to you describe your concerns. The procedure begins with your Beauty Nurse placing a gel pad and the appropriate CoolSculpting® applicator on the treatment area. The various applicators are designed for specific treatment needs. The treatment experience differs slightly, depending on the area or areas being treated. The applicator placed on the abdomen or flanks, for example, uses a vacuum-type suction to draw up the skin between 2 cooling panels. The CoolSmooth™ applicator that's used to treat thighs, on the other hand, is held in place with straps instead of using suction pressure.

Does the treatment hurt?

Once the controlled cooling process begins, you may feel some minor discomfort for just a couple of minutes as the area gets cold. After the treatment area is numb, however, patients often read, scroll through their smart phones or other mobile devices, or even nap during the treatment.

How does CoolSculpting® work?

This revolutionary fat reduction treatment is not surgery like liposuction; it addresses unwanted fat cells by freezing. Using an innovative cooling process to target stubborn fat cells, CoolSculpting® gently targets and treats without downtime, comfortably and effectively freezing fat to help you look and feel your best. The CoolSculpting® technology safely delivers precisely controlled cooling to target the fat cells located underneath the skin. These targeted fat cells are frozen, causing them to die. The body then naturally flushes away these dead cells.

What areas can be treated with CoolSculpting®?

Multiple areas of your body can be treated with the CoolSculpting® procedure, with the most common areas being the following:

How many times do you have to do CoolSculpting® to see results?

How long after CoolSculpting® do you see results?

Patients begin to notice treated areas becoming slimmer in about 1 to 3 months as the body flushes away the treated fat cells. Results typically continue to improve for about 6 months.

How much weight can be lost with this treatment?

CoolSculpting® is not a weight loss treatment. While most patients don't see a significant change on the scale with this body sculpting procedure, many do lose a size or two in their clothing. CoolSculpting® can reduce the areas of fat that they can't lose on their own.

CoolSculpting® vs. BodyTite

These are both body sculpting procedures that have their own benefits and limitations.

• CoolSculpting® is strictly for fat reduction and is best for small to moderate areas of fat. It is noninvasive, which means it does not involve incisions or anesthetic and there is no downtime. Results develop gradually starting 1 to 3 months after treatment.
• BodyTite tightens mild to moderately lax skin and reduces small pockets of fat. It is performed with general anesthesia and is minimally invasive because it involves a tiny probe that is inserted under the skin. Most patients are ready to return to work and daily activities within 1 to 3 days.
