ZO® Controlled Depth Peel

The ZO Controlled Depth Peel from Dr. Zen Obagi is an in-office treatment that corrects a variety of concerns, including:

  • Rough texture
  • Laxity
  • Fine lines and wrinkles
  • Uneven pigmentation
  • Acne scars

This trichloroacetic acid (TCA) chemical peel contains a blue base that allows us to control the depth of the treatment. In addition, your provider can adjust the concentration of TCA (20% to 26%) depending on the condition of your skin and your available downtime. After treatment, the skin retains a bluish tint for about 2 to 3 days until peeling begins. It takes about a week for the peeling to finish and about 7 to 10 days for the skin to heal. The result is smooth, firm, evenly colored skin. Read more in this blog post.

Benefits of Chemical Peels

Depending on what concerns you’d like to treat, peels use a variety of active ingredients to improve skin’s tone and texture. Performed right here in our office, peels can be used to accomplish the following:

  • Smooth away fine lines
  • Refine enlarged pores
  • Clear away acne blemishes
  • Minimize discolouration
  • Improve skin texture
  • Enhance overall radiance

Each treatment is fast, comfortable, and poses minimal disruption to your daily routine. When performed in a series of 6 bi-weekly sessions, professional chemical peels can rapidly improve skin’s overall health and vitality while addressing specific concerns, such as acne and dark spots. Your treatment regimen can be completely customized based on your skincare needs, schedule, and budget. Many patients opt to undergo regular monthly peels to maintain results. When performed by the professionals at The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic, peels can unveil your most beautifully refreshed, soft, and luminous skin.

In some cases, you may find that you’re a better candidate for another resurfacing procedure, such as laser skin treatments. Our skincare professionals work closely with you to help you develop a treatment plan that precisely matches your needs.

Chemical Peel

FAQ

What happens during a treatment?
During your 20- to 30-minute session, our practitioners evenly apply a personalized peel over your cleansed skin. This proceeds to a certain level of exfoliation, after which we neutralize the peel with a special ingredient. Your practitioner then applies a series of soothing, protective finishing serums in addition to sun protection.
Will my skin peel afterward?
Everyone’s skin responds uniquely to the chemical peel, and generally those with milder skin concerns experience milder side effects. Peeling does happen for some patients, but it typically subsides within 3 or 4 days. At The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic, our coordinators advise you on optimal pre-peel skincare practices, such as avoiding prescription retinol treatments and at-home exfoliations prior to your appointment.
How long will my results last?
You can enjoy the benefits of your chemical peel for at least several weeks post-treatment. The exact duration of these results depend on a few different factors, including the efficacy of your at-home products. We recommend a bi-weekly series of chemical peels for maximum long-term improvement.
