What Makes Halo Unique

To understand what sets the Halo system apart from other laser skin resurfacing procedures, it’s important to know the difference between what are called ablative and non-ablative wavelengths. Halo is a hybrid fractional laser, meaning it can administer both types of wavelengths when it targets the treatment area.

Ablative lasers create more dramatic results but require more time to heal. An ablative laser procedure removes the thin, damaged outer layers of skin. This triggers the skin’s healing processes and reveals the softer, more radiant skin beneath. Even though patients need more downtime, the results on lines, wrinkles, scars, and discoloration can be quite significant.

Non-ablative lasers penetrate the skin’s surface and target underlying tissue in the treatment area while keeping the skin’s surface intact. The non-ablative laser penetrates more deeply into the skin than ablative lasers, reaching the deepest pigment, causing increased production of collagen, and tightening skin. Patients need less downtime after a non-ablative laser procedure.

Because everyone’s skin is different, and not everyone can take several days off to recover after a laser skin treatment, our Beauty Nurse® team customizes the intensity of the Halo procedure. A light treatment creates smooth, vibrant skin, and a more intense treatment will minimize wrinkles and significantly improve sun damage after a few days of downtime.

HALO®

What you need to know

Halo Laser Benefits

Women and men considering laser skin treatments in the past typically needed to choose between a more aggressive procedure that provided dramatic results with more downtime, or a gentler approach with little recovery time but which required more treatment sessions. Halo offers the best of both worlds—getting excellent results without a lengthy recovery time.

Members of our Beauty Nurse team who perform the Halo treatments, Natalie and Carla, have both completed 2 days of specialized training using the Halo hybrid laser. Both are registered practical nurses working under the direction of Royal College-certified plastic surgeons. They customize procedures based on patients’ specific skin concerns and the amount of recovery time they can afford.

By combining laser wavelengths that target both the deeper tissues and the skin’s surface, Halo produces results that improve the appearance of these skin conditions:

  • Wrinkles and fine lines
  • Sun damage
  • Skin texture
  • Skin resurfacing
  • Scar revision
  • Signs of aging
  • Pigmented lesions

This includes various areas of the body, including the face, chest, neck, and hands.

Combined Treatments

The results of a Halo laser skin rejuvenation procedure can be enhanced when combined with other cosmetic treatments. To begin with, our Beauty Nurse team performs a comprehensive profile of each patient’s skin. Using this analysis, our aesthetic specialists may recommend combining Forever Young BBL™ Photo-Rejuvenation, which can also correct discoloration resulting from sun exposure. In addition, we can help patients create a daily skincare regimen using medical-grade skincare products tailored to their specific skin types.
