The Skin Diaries: Rosacea and Visible Veins

We’re exploring unique skin stories with our new blog series.

The nuances of each patient’s skin are as personal and unique as the page of a diary. The different factors that affect how your skin ages, changes, and transforms are as singular as a snowflake. That’s why we’ve created the Skin Diaries series –– to use specific cases to demonstrate how a personalized treatment plan can transform your skin. Step inside some of our patient’s personal stories to see how treatments or procedures addressed their unique needs to rejuvenate their appearance in a way that met their goals.

Please note that any patients mentioned or shown in the skin series kindly allowed us to use and share their images. The stories we’ll share in our skin diaries series are from happy patients who felt great about sharing their results with our client community, for learning opportunities like this.

The Case

A Before and After side-by-side comparison of a man who has had BBL treatmentThis gentleman was experiencing flushing skin, excess redness, and fine blood vessels that were visible on his cheeks and nose. These are all concerns we hear about often from our patients.

The cause of the concern

Many of us notice discolouration, redness, visible blood vessels, and other signs of aging over time and especially as we age. When we get older, collagen formation slows down and sun damage can begin to show up more visibly. When we see patients with this hybrid of redness, flushing, and visible veins, they’re often patients who suffer from rosacea symptoms. Rosacea can be a hard condition to diagnose because the symptoms overlap with other conditions. A big part of alleviating and managing rosacea symptoms is learning your triggers, like certain foods, wine, strenuous exercise, or heat. But there are also useful treatments that address redness with laser treatment or other procedures that accelerate cell turnover or target redness right at the source.

The personalized treatment plan

Visible veins and redness can be effectively treated with a variety of treatments and procedures, depending on the specifics of each individual case. In this case, we recommended a combination of Broadband Light (BBL) and medical grade skin care, including a medical grade sunscreen with broad spectrum protection.

Here’s why it worked

Forever Young BBL treatments use innovative light therapy to dark discolouration and other signs of aging. With regular maintenance treatments, BBL can rejuvenate the skin, accelerate cell turnover, and delay visible skin aging. This device has been shown to change the expression of genes associated with aging, longevity and an increased lifespan. Our skincare programs are also designed to treat aesthetic concerns right at the root cause. With a combination of treatments to exfoliate, regenerate, and nourish, a combined treatment plan can rejuvenate the appearance of your skin. The best treatments offer a hybrid of treatment and prevention, so the use of a broad spectrum sunscreen also ensures that skin is protected. Our online skincare store is a great place to access medical-grade skincare right from home.
