5 Truths about Lip Injections

1. Great results look beautiful and natural

In short, duck lips are for amateurs. If you choose a skilled, experienced, injector, no one needs to know that you’ve had fillers, neuromodulators, or any cosmetic treatment. The best results make someone take notice but they can’t quite put their finger on why you look especially fabulous today.

A woman closes her eyes standing in some flowersIf you’ve seen reality shows where the stars look like their lips are made of rubber or can’t move their faces, you might feel wary of injectables. But when dermal fillers are done right, they enhance the natural shape and fullness of your lips with a natural effect. When a skilled injector from our Beauty Nurse team meets you, they’ll take your full facial symmetry into account. That means when we look at your face, we’re not just looking at your lips! We’re assessing how your whole lovely face has a unique, natural balance. The way we inject your lips is intentionally subtle and suited to keep this balance. You’ll look like you, just with some natural enhancements.

Nurse injector Majid (who is renowned for his gorgeous, natural injections), also suggests that you look at your injector themselves. If they’ve had injections that don’t look natural, they might not be the right injector for you. You can also read reviews, check out their social media channel, look at before and after galleries, or ask friends with great results about an injector they trust.

2. An enhanced lip can refresh your whole face

It might seem like a small measure to enhance your lips alone, but the effect of a full, natural lip can enhance your overall appearance. This 29-year-old woman (below) came to us wanting to enhance her lips with a fuller appearance. As you can imagine, her whole smile was transformed with these natural-looking, fuller lips.

Looking to make a change? If you’re new to injectables, you could start with a small area like the lips to see how a filler refreshes your overall look.

3. You can preserve the beauty of your lips

Thin lips are often a hereditary trait, but you can help your injectable results last by taking great care of your lips.

  • Avoid smoking, which can cause premature wrinkles, lines, and thinning.
  • Try using a lip mask or deeply moisturizing lip balm to nourish your lips.
  • Drink plenty of water and stay hydrated to support your skin’s acid mantle.
  • Use a lip sunscreen and avoid UV damage which can cause signs of aging on your lips.

4. Each injectable plan is personal

Our goal in each consultation is to get a sense of what your vision is and to do what we can to make it a reality. But we’re also here to help guide your aesthetic journey with our expertise, and to help you set beautiful realistic expectations. You might want big, gorgeous, full lips –– but if your lips are super thin, we might advise starting small to see how even a bit of filler can enhance your appearance. You may be surprised at how the tiniest change can transform. Depending on someone’s lip volume and their expectations from a filler treatment your injector may recommend a whole syringe (1.0 mL) or just slightly less. For patients with very thin lips, they may recommend another 1 to 2 lip treatments to gradually add more volume for a more natural result.

Our skilled injectors have seen it all, and we understand how to effectively augment the lips for a beautiful, full injectable result that suits the balance of your face. No two injectable plans are the same: so we’re here to build one that’s specific to your beauty, your facial symmetry, your facial shape, and your goals. Take a look at this injectable lip result below, where someone with a bow lip shape enhanced their appearance with fillers.

5. Results can be long-lasting

Here’s how Beauty Nurse® Majid, R.N., describes the length of results and expectations around how long lip fillers last:

“The length of results differs with each patient. The time it takes for a filler to subside depends on your metabolic rate, the type of filler used, and other factors. A lip filler may last from 6 months up to one year—in some cases, results last for 15 months!

I use Hyaluronic Acid (HA) based fillers to do lip treatments. I can also use softer fillers which have less concentration, or a filler with a higher HA concentration. Your body naturally absorbs HA, so a filler that is thicker with a higher HA percentage will last longer. Thinner fillers with a lower HA percentage will dissolve more quickly.”
