Today at the Cosmetic Surgery Clinic was the type of day I have been dreaming of for a long time.
The whole team had breakfast together in the Clinic kitchen, bright and early. We planned the day and caught up on the latest news.
Nurses Linda and Ange and I started out in the operating room with a breast augmentation first thing in the morning, and handed the patient over to Karen’s caring hands in the recovery room. Dr. Nicholas had, of course, provided his usual stellar anesthetic care and the patient woke up comfortable and happy.
Dr. Chesney then did a beautiful breast reduction and full body liposuction case while I went to the procedure room downstairs to do a full list of minor surgery cases. All the while, Dr. Stephanie Ma, our newest addition to the team, was seeing new patients, both reconstructive and cosmetic, in the consultation rooms.
Natalie was making people beautiful by running the laser and was taking her usual great care of the post op patients.
Emily, despite being away for the day, was busy working with pre op patients getting them ready for their turn in the operating room.
Rachel was running the front desk like clockwork and Heather oversaw the whole team.
It was poetry in motion.
It has taken a while, but the dream team is finally running on all cylinders!
All day long we worked together, surgeons, nurses and admin staff, as one team, all pulling in the same direction. The surgeons worked on planning cases together, examined each other’s patients to give second opinions and supported each other in all the different types of patient care we deliver.
I am so proud of my team! Together, we can do what the three of us surgeons on our own could never hope to achieve. We teach each other, learn from each other and support each other.
I can only imagine what my Dream Team of super stars will achieve in the future!
