Ever since I started in practice 9 1/2 years ago, I have always phoned my patients at home the evening after surgery. Usually we talk about the usual stuff: pain medication, activity level, what to eat, and the expected recovery process.
Today, however, I heard something different. I asked my patient, who had just undergone a mastopexy and a tummy tuck, what she thought of my team at the clinic. She paused, and then said something I will never forget. She said “you took my fear away”. She said she came in nervous and worried, but through the warmth and professionalism of my team, she felt the fear melt away, to be replaced by a calm feeling of reassurance and confidence.
I am so proud of the deep emotional connection we make with our patients at the Cosmetic Surgery Clinic. It adds a level of personal and professional satisfaction above and way beyond what can be achieved by simply improving someone’s appearance.
