Before & After
Case Details
This 54-year-old woman visited us at The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic in Waterloo, ON as she wanted to have a lipoma removed from her back that has been slowly growing over the last 10 years or so.
A lipoma is a slow-growing, fatty lump that most often is located between the skin and muscle layer but below the skin. It feels soft and rubbery and often isn't tender. It also moves with slight finger pressure as if not connected to the skin above.
A lipoma isn't cancer, and it typically is harmless. Treatment generally isn't needed, but if the lipoma bothers you, or if it's painful or growing, you may want to have it removed just like for this patient.
In her case, the lipoma measured 13cm long, 12cm wide, and 5cm thick.
It has been just 2 short weeks after her procedure and everything is healing very nicely. The before and after photos show the difference that removing the lipoma has made to her back. She tells us that she is happy with how things are looking and is aware that the redness of her scar will fade over time to a thin, pale line.
