What is included in a Mommy Makeover?

Pregnancy and breastfeeding take a toll on breast fullness and perkiness. Combining a breast lift with breast augmentation surgery can provide pre-baby shape and volume.

Breast lift surgery may be as simple as raising the nipple and areola by a few millimeters with a small incision around the areola. However, in many cases the laxity of the breast skin requires the removal of excess skin to tighten the whole breast skin envelope.

Breast augmentation involves an implant being placed in a space created behind the breast. The implant is a size, shape and surface texture that you have pre-selected with your surgeon.

The objective of liposuction is to improve your body's contours by removing unwanted fat deposits. While it is not meant for weight reduction, liposuction uses a hollow stainless steel tube with the assistance of vacuum suction to remove fat. Common sites for liposuction include: abdominal area, love handles, back, thighs and inside the knees. Localized fat accumulation in these areas sometimes does not respond to diet or exercise; liposuction is sometimes the only way to reduce these deposits.

For a non-surgical alternative to liposuction, consider CoolSculpting®. This treatment uses freezing technology to shrink love handles, thighs, tummies and more. The CoolSculpting® technology safely delivers precisely controlled cooling to target the fat cells located underneath the skin. These targeted fat cells are frozen, causing them to die. The body then naturally flushes away these dead cells.

Pregnancy can result in loose or excess abdominal skin and fat, and a bulging tummy contour due to damage to the abdominal muscles. A tummy tuck (abdominoplasty) is a three-step procedure that can be combined with breast surgery to provide a more youthful shape after pregnancy and breastfeeding. First, the contour of the abdomen is improved by tightening and repositioning the muscles of the abdominal wall. Second, excess skin and fat are removed. Third, liposuction is used to contour the abdominal wall and flanks. Results include a firmer, flatter abdomen reminiscent of your pre-baby body days.

How much does a Mommy Makeover cost?

The cost for Mommy Makeovers in the Ontario region ranges from approximately $15,000 to $28,000 depending on the procedures performed and other factors. Patients typically end up paying less than if they had the procedures performed individually. We will provide you with a specific price for your procedure at your consultation. If needed, you can apply for flexible financing options through Medicard.

Frequently Asked Questions About Mommy Makeover Surgery

Will a tummy tuck get rid of stretch marks?

Stretch marks can occur both below and above the navel. Tummy tuck surgery that's part of a Mommy Makeover will get rid of stretch marks on the excess skin removed as part of the procedure. Stretch marks above the navel will remain, but this skin is often moved lower during the surgery, making the skin tauter and the marks less noticeable.

Will my lower stomach pooch ("belly pooch") go away after a Mommy Makeover?

One of the most frustrating things for women after having children is the appearance of a pooch on the lower abdomen that can make it appear as if they're still pregnant. This pooch is the result of a condition called diastasis recti—abdominal muscles separated during pregnancy. When this condition is severe, the only remedy is surgical repair during tummy tuck surgery.

Can labiaplasty be part of a Mommy Makeover?

Vaginal rejuvenation is often overlooked in the discussion of Mommy Makeover surgery, even though pregnancy and childbirth can have a profound effect on the vaginal area. Labiaplasty is a surgical procedure that reduces the size of the inner labia, addresses pigmentation issues, and improves the overall aesthetic appearance.
