All about BELKYRA™

The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic, BelkyraA double chin, also known as submental fullness, is an aesthetic condition that can be a source of frustration, embarrassment and low self-confidence for both men and women. While many people believe a double chin is always caused by weight gain, the truth is submental fullness is more often the result of genetics and aging, and can be resistant to healthy diet and exercise.

Luckily, there’s BELKYRA™, a safe and clinically proven treatment to contour the area under the jawline. As with any treatment decision, The Beauty Nurse® team at The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic wants you to have as much information as possible, so here’s everything you need to know about Belkyra.

What is BELKYRA™?

Belkyra is a safe and effective injectable treatment, administered by a member of The Beauty Nurse® team at TCSC, to contour the area under the jawline,

How does BELKYRA™ work to eliminate a double chin?

Belkyra injections are made up of deoxycholic acid, which is a fat-metabolizing agent found naturally in our bodies. Once injected, this substance gets to work breaking down the membranes of targeted fat cells, causing them to collapse and be processed naturally by the body.

What should I expect from treatment?

At The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic, Belkyra treatments are quick and easy. Our Nurse Injector Majid will begin by cleansing your neck and applying a local anaesthetic. Next, he’ll establish and mark the ideal injection pattern underneath the chin, and finally, he’ll administer the injections. The entire procedure lasts about 30 minutes in total.

How many treatments will I need?

The number of treatments required varies depending on the individual patient and the amount of fat in the area. For some, just one treatment is enough, but the procedure may be repeated 2 to 6 times over several months to achieve your optimal outcome.

What’s recovery like?

There is almost no downtime associated with Belkyra treatments. Patients should be able to return to their normal activities immediately, though some swelling, tenderness, and bruising around the injection site can be expected and should resolve itself within a few days.

How soon will I see results and how long do they last?

The rate at which results appear is different for every patient, but typically a gradual reduction of fullness in the area can be seen within 2 to 4 weeks after each treatment. Results can last indefinitely, though we do recommend maintaining a stable weight to ensure you’ll enjoy your results for years to come.

How much does Belkyra cost?

At The Cosmetic Surgery Clinic, the cost per Belkyra treatment is $1500, but may vary depending on individual patient presentation to be determined at the time of consultation.
